★THE LONG WALK FOR BIG MTN の立場表明文 「いわゆる『ホピとディネの対立』は極めて最近に引き起こされたものであり、インディアン自身によるものではない。ディネとホピは、祖先以来400年以上にわたり、互いに平和と調和を保ち、互いの踊りに参加し、交易し、通 婚し、土地を共有してきたものである。」−伝統的ホピ指導者の呼びかけによる宣言。 「我らビッグ・マウンテンの者たち、ディネのくには、ホピの隣人と、平和と強調を保って生きる権利を宣言する。ホピと我らの協働は、決して変わることがない。」−伝統的ディネの長老による宣言。 私たちは、ディネ、あるいはホピ、どちらか一方を支持するものではなく、あくまでも伝統派ディネ、ホピの人たちの語る言葉に、私たちのクニ、日本、そして地球上すべてに通 ずる真理をそこに見て、両部族の伝統派長老をリスペクトしていかなる理由があろうとも強制移住に反対するものである。この現代社会の様々な問題の象徴として同じ時代に生きる同じいのちとしてこの行進を通 じて祈りを届けるものである。これは、政治的行進（ポリティカルウォーク）ではなく、あくまで祈りの行進、精神的行進（スピリチュアルウォーク）である。 行進の目的 ☆2000年1月1日位山という聖地（山）よりスタートし日本の聖なる山、川、大地（富士山など）を一歩一歩踏みしめ、それを祈りとして東京まで約300マイル歩き、行く先々で集めた署名を最終アメリカ大使館まで届け、そして渡米、フラッグスタッフよりBLACK MESAまで再び歩いてゆく。 ☆2000年2月1日最終強制移住期限（デッドライン）に向け、ビッグマウンテン・ブラックメサに住む長老たちに、私たち日本人の思いを届け、彼女たちは決して孤独ではなく、民族を超えた多くの者たちが、大地に祈る伝統的な生き方を守る彼女たちの姿勢から学んでいることを知らせることにあります。この人たちこそ、英語も使わない、電気も水道もない、昔ながらの伝統的な生活をいまだに続けてる「最後の本当のインディアン」です。 日本人とビッグマウンテンのいきさつ ☆スタートとなる聖山、位山は1987年ビッグマウンテンのディネ・レジスターであるバヒ・キャダニー氏が来日し、日本の先住民、アイヌの長老と、日本人とともにセレモニーを司った。行進途中の八ッヶ岳は'88年、伝統的ホピのメッセンジャー、トーマス・バニヤッケ氏はじめラコタ、インディアンの人たちと日本人と共に祈りのセレモニーを持った。我々の数人は毎年ビッグマウンテンを訪れ、彼らの伝統的な生き方、いかに大地と共に生きるかという教えを学んでいる。その縁に導かれこの行進はスタートした。 NO-ALCHOL, NO-DRUG, NO-WEAPON!
★英文オリジナル Hereby we confirm own earnest will to support the elders of Big Mountain. We are the people seeking the good way to live on the Earth. Back in 1987, we had the ceremony with Mr. Bahe Katenay from Big Mountain and with an elder of Ainu tribe (one of the Japanese indigenous nation) and in 1988, we had another ceremony with Mr. Thomas Benyacya the messenger of Hopi, the people of Lakota Nation with Japanese people on the top of Mt. Kuraiyama, a sacred mountain located in central Japan. Since then several of us have visited in Big Mountain in order to learn the traditional way to live with the Mother Earth in harmony and in beauty, bringing back the teaching of elders to Japan. Therefore we chose the way to do "The Long Walk for the Big Mountain" from the Mt. Kuraiyama to Tokyo, (approximately 300 miles distance) then to the States, Flagstaff to Big Mountain. We are sure each step we put on the Earth it would turn into prayer for the Big mountain. We have started from the Mt. Kuraiyama Jan, 1st 2000 dawn, and are walking now in suburb of Tokyo. We are going to deliver the piles of signed documents filled with Japanese supporter's signatures along with the letter addressed to the President of the United States to express our feeling about the unjustifiable policy of the relocation in the Big Mountain, to the U.S. Embassy on January, 22nd. Then we are going to get on board to the States on the 25th, in order to get to Flagstaff and then to the Black Mesa, promptly ahead of the dead line. -We will start to walk from Flagstaff to Black Mesa joining into the American group to relay our thoughts and concerns to the elders. In addition, the toll of collected signatures of Japanese supporters are more or less 10,000 now. We will do our best to assist you from Japan when the count trial starts dealing with the relocation issue. This must be said to be clear that we are not in particular favor of either Dineh Nation or Hopi Nation. In fact, we merely see the ultimate truth within the words of the traditional Dineh and Hopi, which prevail in our nation as well as all over the world equally. So we respectfully support indigenous elders and strongly against U.S. governments relocation policy. We regard this case as a symbolic case of the various problems within our time's society. Sharing the same span of time in the history, we want to relay our prayer to your land through carrying on this long walk. This is an absolute walk of prayer, pure form of spirituality never to be mistaken to a political act.
